This is how Tim sculpted the original pattern pieces for the Sydney Class Starship!

|
The main hull of the Sydney was constructed of stacked pieces of Sintra,
an expanded PVC board. The raised levels on the top were made from styrene,
while the detailing was made from tape and thin styrene. The bridge
was cut off of a 1/2500 Ertl Enterprise-A. The impulse dome was a half
bead.

The sides of the hull were carved from blocks of Sintra and glued on.
More detailing of tape and styrene was added. If you look closely at
the picture on the left, you can see the red, white and black tapes
Tim uses.

Here's a better look at the detail. The rear exhaust vents were made
from styrene strips. The windows were later added to the hull by applying
tape, then coating the piece with primer and removing the tape, resulting
in recessed windows.
